The Queens Gambit_HR2QD_1000x913.jpeg

You may not be a chess fan but if you are a fashion addict this series is just for you! Have you seen The Queen’s Gambit yet? The series follows the story of Beth Harmon (stared by Anya Taylor-Joy), an American chess prodigy, in 50/60s, as she becomes a great champion chess Grandmaster, and all the dramas and injustices that she faces from a young age, and for being a woman in a man oriented world.

Our champ not only wins chess matches but checkmates everyone with her fashion too. She was bullied about her clothes at a young age, something that changed when she started to be financially stable from her chess victories and started blowing everyone out of the water with her clothes! She absolutely kills all her chess competition with her intelligence, style, and uniqueness. Beth is such a brilliant and captivating character, and her infallible sense of style evolves with her, side by side, right up to the final scene!

The costume designer Gabriele Binder was the main responsible for Beth’s amazing 60s wardrobe, where “80%” of the costumes were handmade by her and her team. Most important for them, was to give Beth a voice that matches her identity and self-confidence, through her style.

1. Red & Navy

This cool striped V neck top suits Beth perfectly and the navy side-buttoned miniskirt is something to die for! Plus, the cat-eye sunglasses topped off with her headband are, for sure the cherry on top of the cake. This look shows us how empowered and full of confidence she becomes.

2. Tartan Dress

This low-cut tartan dress is absolutely gorgeous. You can style it with a shirt underneath, like Beth, or a turtleneck for colder days. This dress appears twice, styled in two different ways, one with the white shirt and the other with a black bow tie short sleeve blouse. Both are super chic.

5. Straight Shift Dress

Serious vintage vibes with this one! This dress is all but classic and sophisticated, with a low waist, it shows little curves and made the competition focus on her mind rather than on her body.

10. Total White Look

This is one of the most iconic looks in the series, in our opinion, as it represents the royalty status of Beth at the end. It is said to be designed to resemble the white Queen’s chess piece, for a strong and powerful statement in the final act. A total white look is always chic and stunning!
