What’s my body shape?

Ever struggled to understand which clothes suit your body type the best? Or wondered why one thing looks better on you than another? Was it the colour, shape or length? We’ve been there too.

The reason we set up EDIS is to embrace every body shape and to give everybody and anybody the chance to have clothes that look great on them!

We will be writing a series of blogs to help you to understand what shape you are and what you can do to enhance it. Let’s face it, there are so many different body shapes out there - and the fashion brands could do better to cater to all of them.

So what are the five main body shapes?

Hourglass body

Your shoulders and hips are wider than your waist, and you have a well defined one. You just need to show what you already have, the balance of the body is in your waist, so make sure you mark it well and catch all the attention for it!

Apple shaped or round body

If you imagine an apple as a body you will notice that a big part of the volume is distributed through your bust and belly. Let’s minimise all this volume, catching the eye to your neck, shoulder, arms and legs, which are the most elegant parts of your body. Probably your waist is not well defined, so let's try to fit clothes under your chest and not in your waist.

Pear shapped or triangle body

The volume are on the hips, wich are larger that the bust, and there is a defined waist. Adding volume up on torso and emphasizing the waist is the best way to balance your proportions. Make others focus the attention on the upper part of your body, arms and shoulders.

Rectangle body

Most of the times this body shape has a lack of curves, so you need to create your own. Your assets (waist, hip and shoulders) proportions are almost the same. The trick here is to create a waist so it can balance the proportions of the body.

Inverted triangle

If you think in the shape of an upside-down triangle, you will see that the most volumptuous part is on the top of your body, the shoulders are the broadest part. The rest of your body looks slimmer than your shoulders so let’s catch the attention on the bottom part of your body. To balance it you need to add volume on your hips and define the waist.
