Malcolm & Marie (starred by John David Washington and Zendaya) is one of the most watched movies lately, so we couldn’t avoid talking about it. With the amazing performances and the beauty and simplicity of everything in this movie, it really caught our attention. Have you seen it yet?
It’s not the romantic movie you are waiting for, it’s a punch in the stomach, showing the true reality that nobody and nothing is perfect and, for that, it is needed in these pandemic times. This was the first Hollywood project to be entirely written, financed, and produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The whole movie takes place in one night, it’s an American black and white romantic drama, that follows a filmmaker called Malcolm and his girlfriend Marie when they get home after his latest film's premiere and start a fight that will test their relationship.
Director Sam Levinson insisted that this movie should be made to be “timeless” so that many years from now the outfits, the sets, and the whole scene will still amaze people. Costume designer Law Roach had chosen only three outfits for Marie in this movie, her clothing changes during the night, helping to contextualise the passage of time and the evolution of the fight, while they discuss the film, their lives, the film industry, and intricacies of their relationship.

1. Cut Out Dress
This is the first piece showing in the movie. The shiny and metallic dress with a cut out on the belly, crossed neckline, and side opening on the leg, which Marie wears with some dark tights, for Malcolm’s movie premier. It’s not just a basic white tank top, it was mentioned that Zendaya had to try a lot of different tops with different shapes and cuts and fabrics.
